The Role:
Our site in Hillsboro, OR is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Co-Op to join our team for the Spring 2027 season. This assignment is intended to be 6 months in duration.
This role provides a unique opportunity for a student to gain hands-on manufacturing engineering experience within a fast-paced production environment supporting the CMP Polishing Pads business.
As a Manufacturing Engineering Co-op, you will partner with engineers, technicians, operators, and cross-functional teams to support production, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.
What you'd do
- Support manufacturing engineers in sustaining safe, efficient, and high-quality production processes.
- Collect, organize, and analyze manufacturing data to identify trends, process variation, and improvement opportunities.
- Assist with root cause investigations related to quality issues, equipment performance, scrap reduction, and process deviations.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects focused on Safety, Quality, and Productivity metrics.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation including work instructions, control plans, standard operating procedures, and visual management tools.
- Support Statistical Process Control (SPC) activities and process capability assessments.
- Assist in planning, executing, and documenting engineering trials and Design of Experiments (DOE).Participate in equipment qualifications, process validations, and new product introductions.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to improve manufacturing performance.
- Present project findings and recommendations to engineering and site leadership teams.
- Complete a meaningful engineering project with measurable business impact during the co-op assignment.
