We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research associate to investigate quantum correlations and many-body dynamics in quantum condensed matter systems using advanced coherent x-ray scattering techniques. The successful candidate will develop and perform synchrotron-based coherent x-ray and x-ray photon correlation spectroscopy (XPCS) experiments to probe nano-to-meso-scale equilibrium and nonequilibrium dynamics in strongly correlated materials, including charge, spin, and orbital ordered systems.
The postdoc will also work closely and collaborate with the X-ray Scattering Group (XSG) in Condensed Matter Physics & Materials Science at BNL.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
What you'd do
- Responsible for planning, performing, and analyzing coherent x-ray scattering experiments
- Responsible for disseminating research results in the form of conference presentations and publications
- PhD in physics, materials science, physical chemistry or related field
- Sufficient understanding of the physics of quantum materials
- Experience in x-ray scattering or related techniques
- Demonstrated proficiency in programming language, such as Python
- Excellent written and oral communication skills including writing academic papers
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
