Position Overview:
Are you looking for an internship that combines software engineering, modern data platforms, and finance? The Multifamily Division within Freddie Mac is searching for talented, curious, and motivated individuals to support our technology initiatives and strategic business objectives.
This is not your typical IT internship.
What you'd do
- Financial Curiosity: A strong desire to learn fixed-income finance concepts and Multifamily Capital Markets products (like K-Deals, PCs, and CRT). Prior finance knowledge is not required, but a willingness to learn is essential!
- Willingness to Experiment: Comfort operating in ambiguity and a passion for finding the "right tool for the job" (knowing when to use automated rules, scripting, or data queries).
- Hybrid Communication: Ability to collaborate effectively with both business users (traders, underwriters, analysts) and enterprise software engineers.
- Analytical Problem-Solving: Self-motivation, initiative, and the ability to learn new tools and technologies independently.
- Attention to Detail: A commitment to producing high-quality, auditable code and data pipelines where accuracy is critical.

- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Information Technology, or a related technical/quantitative discipline.
- Expected graduation date of May 2028.
- Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals, including object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and database design.
- Strong Python skills (for data engineering, automation, or APIs) and familiarity with SQL.
- Exposure to or interest in using AI tools, digital collaboration platforms, or basic scripting to automate manual workflows.
- Familiarity with modern data platforms like Snowflake or cloud services (AWS) is a plus.
- Experience contributing to hackathons, personal coding projects, open-source initiatives, or technical class projects is highly valued.
