The Duty Drawback Data & Process Automation Intern will support the collection, validation, and organization of import and export data required for duty drawback claims. This role will initially focus on manually gathering and reconciling data from multiple systems, vendors, and internal stakeholders to establish accurate reporting processes. As the intern gains a thorough understanding of the current workflow, they will identify opportunities to streamline and automate data collection, reporting, and validation activities.
This internship provides hands-on experience in global trade compliance, customs duty recovery, data analytics, process improvement, and business automation. This is a temporary role and is expected to last 3 - 6 months.
What you'd do
- Collect and consolidate import and export transaction data from internal systems, suppliers, freight providers, and customs documentation.
- Review and validate data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with duty drawback requirements.
- Reconcile shipment records, customs entries, invoices, and related documentation.
- Maintain organized records and supporting documentation for drawback claim preparation.
- Identify and resolve data discrepancies through collaboration with stakeholders.
- Document current-state data collection and reporting processes.
- Develop process maps and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Analyze workflow bottlenecks, manual touchpoints, and data quality issues.
- Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Assist in developing automated solutions for data extraction, cleansing, validation, and reporting.
