The Industrial Engineer I will apply fundamental engineering principles to optimize manufacturing processes, improve efficiency, and reduce costs within Jabil's operations.
What you'd do
- Analyze current manufacturing processes, workflows, and production layouts to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, cost, and quality.
- Develop and implement solutions using industrial engineering methodologies, such as time studies, motion studies, and process mapping.
- Design and optimize work methods, equipment utilization, and material flow to maximize output and minimize waste.
- Conduct capacity planning and resource allocation studies to ensure optimal utilization of personnel and machinery.
- Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including process instructions, standard operating procedures, and work standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and supply chain, to implement engineering changes and process improvements.
- Participate in new product introduction (NPI) activities, ensuring efficient and manufacturable designs.
- Apply Lean and Six Sigma principles to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collect and analyze data to track performance metrics, identify trends, and measure the impact of implemented solutions.
- Present findings and recommendations to management and relevant stakeholders.
What they want
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 0-2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in electronics manufacturing or contract manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of industrial engineering principles and methodologies (e.g., Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, time studies, process mapping, capacity planning).
- Proficiency in data analysis and statistical tools (e.g., Excel, Minitab, JMP).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) is a plus.
