Position: Theater Technician

Department: Aptos Performing Arts Center
Reports To: Principal or Designee
SUMMARY
Under general supervision, plans, supervised and participates in the operation of the Performing Arts Center; oversees the use of the stage and auditorium for all school and outside functions; oversees and participates in the operation and maintenance of stage equipment and sets; designs and executes audio systems, computerized lighting boards and sets; designs and executes audio systems, computerized lighting boards and sets.
NATURE AND SCOPE
Under general supervision this position coordinates and oversees the Performing Arts Center and its technical production aspects.
What you'd do
- Assists in coordinating and overseeing the use and operation of the on campus theater facility.
- Provides input into the development of policies, guidelines and procedures related to theater activities.
- Confers with individuals and groups, both on and off campus and provides information regarding facility usage, available equipment and scheduling dates.
- Provides technical assistance to those using the theater equipment, and advises users regarding performance production aspects.
- Enters and retrieved data from a personal computer to produce reports regarding expenditures, schedules, production estimates and other matters.
- Plans, organizes and assumes responsibility for theater operations and maintenance.
- Recruits and directs the work of part-time staff and student assistants to provide technical production and ushering support.
- Provides instruction to staff and anyone who used the facility in work and safety procedures.
- Assists in coordinating activities and arranging details for rehearsals and performances.
- Distributes information regarding the facility to interested parties and encourages use of the facility.
