Electric Distribution Standards covers all of the material from the Substation to the meter on the building.
What you'd do
- Research and write white papers on equipment with detailed technical information such as: number of operations, insulating material, compliance with relevant standards (e.g., IEEE, ASTM, ANSI), physical size for future distribution system (FAN/Grid Modernization)
- Analyze current equipment for manufacture equivalent material as compared to incumbent materials. Multiple sources for functionally equivalent material
- Assist Xcel Energy engineers with Design and Construction Manual development
- Assist Xcel Energy engineers with faulty material analysis and solution research
What they want
- Current student, Sophomore or higher
- Enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering
- Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy
