The Wall Street Journal Social Video internship offers an unparalleled opportunity for college juniors to gain practical work experience in our award-winning newsrooms in New York with mentorship and tailored training sessions. Graduate students enrolled in a degree program by the application deadline – October 31 – who are returning to school in the fall are also eligible to apply. You will:
What you'd do
- Work with our team to produce vertical videos for platforms such as Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn.
- Be involved in all steps of production: conceptualization, reporting, scripting, shooting and editing.
- This team works directly with reporters and editors around the newsroom, as well as our video team to create engaging short, social-first breaking news and original videos.
What they want
- Experience with video editing software, including Premiere Pro, After Effects, Adobe InDesign and/or other relevant tools. Animation skills are a plus, and so is comfort being on-camera.
- A deep knowledge of video-driven social platforms.
- Completed at least one prior journalism internship with another professional media organization or published exceptional work with a campus news outlet or as a freelancer.
- A cover letter highlighting why you would be an asset to the team.
- Your résumé.
- Three examples of your published work detailing your specific role in the reporting and production. You may include links for video work samples.
