Job Description Summary

The Military DoD SkillBridge program is an opportunity for Service Members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. SkillBridge connects Service Members with industry partners in real-world job experiences under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. Separating Service Members can be granted up to 180 days of permissive duty to focus solely on training full-time with approved industry partners after unit commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) provides written authorization and approval. GE Aerospace as a SkillBridge partner offers real-world training and work experience in in-demand fields of work while having the opportunity to evaluate the Service Member’s suitability for the work.

What you'd do

  • The Field Service Engineer will work on a team or individually, to install, perform preventive maintenance, repair and training across the region.
  • Perform total system level troubleshooting on complex multi-symptom problems.
  • Able to communicate technical ideas, trainings and subjects through written and verbal communications.
  • Work with Service and Additive engineering teams to resolve complicated mechanical, electrical, electronic, and /or process problems for customer machines.
  • Help in all areas of site preparation (coordination of labor and materials) with minimal supervision.
  • Document all work performed using computer-based service reporting procedures.
  • Maintain effective quality systems and programs according to the GE Aerospace Service Quality Policy Statement.
  • Responsibly complete all administration tasks on time (e.g., ensure timely completion of Service Bulletins and PMs inspections documentation for assigned accounts).
  • Maintain daily interface with Customer technicians on equipment status to ensure satisfaction of primary customers.

  • B.Sc. Engineering / Associates degree and 2 years technical experience, a High School Diploma and 5 years field service or electrical / mechanic technician experience, or equivalent military experience.

  • Shows Initiative, high standards, motivation and outside of the box thinking.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with limited direction and information.
