What you'd do
- Design, analyze, simulate, test, and document power conversion (and related analog) circuitry.
- This circuitry will dominantly involve non-isolated and isolated switch mode power converters and linear converters.
- Main emphasis is on board-mounted power end use applications.
- Help to see circuit card development through its design phases, from requirements definition through initial integration testing.
- Guide ECAD drafters through layout and routing activities, with support from senior engineers.
- Function as an individual contributor. Understand the role of a small team and engage in personal technical growth.
- Clearly present your work product to functional and program leadership.
What they want
- Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Electrical or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
- Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session.
- Design, analysis, test, and/or simulation experience with one or more of the following non-isolated converter topologies: buck, boost, buck-boost.
- Familiarity using tools such as MATLAB, MathCAD, Mathematica, or other similar tools.
- Coursework related to analog electronics design, including at least one of the following: FETs/BJTs, op-amp, high/low/band pass filters, clock/data termination, and comparator circuits.
- A self-starter, a quick learner, be able to function in a dynamic environment, and have good time management skills.
- Experience in any one of the following: Familiarity with wide bandgap devices (SiC, GaN) in power electronics designs. Simulators such as SIMPLIS or SABER, or Mentor Graphics DxDesigner, and/or Hyperlynx.
- Design considerations for voltages > 400V and/or power > 10kW. Three-phase power systems, power factor control, and inverter/rectifier development.
- Our values drive our actions, behaviors, and performance with a vision for a safer, more connected world. At RTX we value: Trust, Respect, Accountability, Collaboration, and Innovation.
