Overview:
The University of Virginia’s media relations team, which is part of Office of University Communications, is looking to hire a thoughtful, detail-oriented student colleague, who will lead the production cycle of our twice-weekly media newsletter, which reaches thousands of journalists.
This opportunity sits at the intersection of legacy media and emerging media, offering direct experience into the constantly evolving nature of university media relations in the digital era. This position will own the creation and execution of the newsletter, including helping the media relations team to refine its design and delivery.
What you'd do
- Produce and distribute the twice-weekly UVA Media Advisory newsletter, including drafting, editing, formatting, and quality assurance.
- Maintain and improve the health of our media contact listserv by researching, adding, organizing, and removing contacts as needed.
- Monitor engagement trends and recommend ideas to improve newsletter performance and user experience.
- Brainstorm and test creative ways to make content easier for journalists to scan, discover relevant stories, and connect with our team for interview opportunities.
- Work across a broad array of UVA experts and topic areas.
- While not a responsibility, this role carries the opportunity to contribute to University Communications’ broader overall strategy and content.
