Forward Deployed Infrastructure Engineers (FDIEs) build, operate, and maintain the infrastructure that powers Palantir’s platforms and production deployments. As an FDIE intern, you’ll work alongside full-time FDIEs to deploy and operate Palantir software across real production environments, automate manual processes, and develop novel solutions to infrastructure challenges using tools like Foundry and Apollo. Every day looks different — you might be debugging a distributed systems issue, building automation to replace a manual runbook, or designing infrastructure improvements that scale across multiple deployments.

  • Comfort with large-scale production systems and technologies — such as load balancing, monitoring, distributed systems, or configuration management
  • Ability to identify and automate highly manual tasks, driving ongoing improvements within and across teams
  • Eagerness to creatively solve technical problems using cloud infrastructure, storage systems, and other infrastructure tooling
  • Ability to collaborate across teams of technical and non-technical individuals in a constantly evolving environment with dynamic objectives

What they want

  • Active US Security clearance, or eligibility and willingness to obtain a US Security clearance prior to start of internship
  • Engineering background, preferred in fields such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, and Data Science
  • Strong proficiency with one or more programming languages, such as Python, Java, Go, C++, TypeScript/JavaScript, or similar
  • Must be planning on graduating in 2028. This should be your final internship before graduating
