Distinguished Professor Adina Paytan at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC), invites applications for the position of Marine Biogeochemistry Associate Researcher. Under the direction of Distinguished Professor Adina Paytan, the Marine Biogeochemistry Associate Researcher will investigates how marine microorganisms regulate primary production, nutrient cycling, and carbon transformations in marine and coastal environments, and how these processes respond to environmental change and atmospheric inputs.

Applicants with expertise in physiological and molecular approaches with stable- and radioisotope tracers, flow cytometry, and pigment analyses, applied to seawater, estuarine waters, sediments, and atmospheric aerosols are encouraged to apply.

What they want

  • PhD (or equivalent foreign degree) in Marine Biogeochemistry, Biological Oceanography, Oceanography, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of demonstrated biological oceanography research experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in radioisotope safety research.
  • Demonstrated experience in phytoplankton taxonomy or phytoplankton dynamics.
