Xcel Energy is seeking candidates to support the Northern Power Company (NSP) Resource Planning team in our Integrated System Planning organization in Minneapolis, MN.
What you'd do
- Participate in the weekly meetings to track various resource planning workstreams
- Contribute to the development and approval of the NSP resource expansion plan. Responsibilities include but are not limited to
- Working with internal stakeholders to gather input assumptions for modeling
- Preparing presentation materials for external stakeholder engagement
- Conducting research on various MISO workshops on resource accreditation, planning reserve margin and other relevant topics
- Conducting research on cost assumptions for various generation types and emerging technologies
- Performing data analytical work to support strategic decisions on generation asset retirement, extension and expansion
- Contribute to executing Request for Proposals to solicit new long-term capacity and energy resources. Responsibilities include but are not limited to
- Working with internal subject matter experts to evaluate bids using financial, economic, environmental and other criteria
- Gathering bid information to support modeling effort

- Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in finance, economics, operations research, mathematics, business, data analytics, engineering
- Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy.
