You will own one or more scoped projects end to end, with mentor support, over the engagement. Candidate projects include:

What you'd do

  • Schematic-to-layout translation — Take an existing schematic for a test fixture or subsystem board and produce a first-pass PCB layout in Altium under mentor review.
  • Deliverable: completed layout, design rule check (DRC) report, and a writeup of key placement/routing decisions.
  • ECAD library development — Build and validate a set of component footprints and symbols for an active program, following library management best practices.
  • Deliverable: verified library parts plus documentation of the library management process used.
  • Stackup and impedance study — Work with a mentor to define a board stackup for a target interface (e.g., USB, Ethernet) and calculate controlled-impedance routing requirements.
  • Deliverable: stackup definition, impedance calculations, and routing guidelines for the design.
  • DFM/DFA review — Review an in-progress or completed layout against fabrication and assembly design rules, flagging issues before release. Deliverable: DFM/DFA findings report and recommended layout corrections.
  • Signal/power integrity pass — Perform a basic signal or power integrity check on an existing design (e.g., decoupling placement, return path continuity) and propose improvements.
  • Deliverable: findings summary and updated layout recommendations.
  • Test fixture layout support — Support layout of a small test or bring-up board used for hardware validation. Deliverable: completed board layout ready for fabrication release, plus a short design review with the team.

What they want

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Must be returning to school at the end of the internship to continue academic studies for at least one quarter or semester.
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities; U.S. clearance eligibility may be required depending on program.
  • Ability to complete an in-person 16-24 week internship in one of our offices in winter 2027.
